At the Bates Philanthropic Initiative (BPI), we firmly believe that everyone deserves access to excellent education, regardless of their circumstances. In Colorado, many gifted yet disadvantaged young people find themselves at a crossroads, torn between fulfilling their basic needs and pursuing an education that can truly change their lives. With over 75% of Colorado jobs requiring some post-secondary training, the urgency is clear: without further education, many face difficulties making a living wage.

But there is hope and a path forward! We are dedicated to changing this narrative by providing financial support for skills-based pathways, empowering under-resourced youth to explore a wealth of opportunities.

Our mission goes beyond offering scholarships; we understand that transitioning from high school to employment can be overwhelming, as many students confront significant barriers. That’s why we fund nonprofit partners who deliver essential wrap-around services—transportation, language support, mentorship, career counseling, and testing and materials fees—to help students navigate these challenges. Together, we can equip young people with the tools they need to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams. Together, let’s open doors for a brighter future!
