2025 Maintenance/Avionics Training Awards


Aircraft Maintenance Training Awards:

One (1) CAE training course of recipient's choice.

  1. Aircraft General Familiarization Course (any model CAE supports, 40 hours)

  2. Practical Aircraft Wiring (40 hours)

  3. Aviation Interpersonal Management (40 hours)

  • Course Description: Any of these courses is a 5-day course to be conducted onsite at a CAE training facility. *Travel stipend provided.


One (1) Flight Safety International (FSI) Maintenance Initial Training Course in the Learjet 40/45 program.

  • Course Description: This is a 10-day aircraft specific maintenance training course conducted onsite FSI Tucson, AZ or virtually. *Travel stipend provided for onsite selection.


One (1) Flight Safety International (FSI) Principles of Troubleshooting Course.

  • Course Description: This is a 2.5-day event that can be conducted onsite at appropriate FSI facility. *Travel stipend provided.



Engine Maintenance Training Awards:

Two (2) Williams International Engine Training Courses

  • Course Description: This is a 5-day Line Maintenance Training Course conducted at the Williams International Training Center in Walled Lake, MI


Avionics Training Awards:

One (1) Collins ProLine Flight Line Maintenance. (recipients choice of the following platforms: Cessna CJ1+, 2+, 3+ Avionics, King Air Proline Avionics, G280 Proline Avionics, Embraer Legacy 450/500 Avionics).

  • Course Description: This is a 5 day course that can be conducted onsite (Cedar Rapids, IA)or virtually. *Travel stipend provided for onsite selection.


Cash Award

  • One (1) $5,000 Award


Qualifications for all Maintenance/Engine/Avionics Training & Cash Awards: Applicant must be currently enrolled in a college / university aviation maintenance program or an accredited aviation technical training school (Part 147) in the State of Michigan


*Cash Travel Stipend: Applicants will provide a travel cost proposal for approval, once approved and travel is completed the scholarship recipient will be reimbursed for reasonable travel costs (airfare, hotel, food, ground transportation).

Michigan Business Aviation Association supports Statewide educational initiatives in partnership with the Michigan Business Aviation Foundation. We are committed to offering scholarships and programs to strengthen and inspire future business aviation talent.

Selection Process

Applicants enrolled in a college program should have an accumulated GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)


Supporting documentation must be included with the application:

  • A current resume

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship to include a U.S. Passport or Birth Certificate

  • An unofficial school transcript including GPA

  • A one page essay describing the applicant’s aviation background, current status and future aviation goals.

  • Applicants will be notified of interview dates for either in person or virtual via Microsoft Teams.

  • Recipients will be invited to accept their award in person at the award ceremony scheduled for September 12th, 2025.
