Powering Futures Scholarship 2025
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
A current high school senior or graduate, have earned a GED certificate, or currently be a postsecondary undergraduate student.
Minimum GPA of 3.0, based on a 4.0 scale.
Enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university in the U.S. in the fall of 2025.
A SMUD customer living in SMUD's service area, or have a parent or legal guardian as a SMUD customer.
Awards are based on merit and financial need with a preference for students with a major relevant to a career at SMUD. The scholarship is not open to SMUD employees or their relatives.
Selection Process
An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the recipients considering:
Financial need
Community involvement
Academic achievements and records
Essay
Note: Preference is given to students with a major relevant to a career at SMUD. Decisions of the selection committees are final and are not subject to appeal. No application feedback will be given.
