2025 RCAT Scholarship Foundation

Description

PURPOSE

To provide financial assistance to the children or stepchildren of employees of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT) member companies in good standing, who are continuing their education in public or private colleges, universities, community colleges and/or trade or technical schools.


ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicant must be the child or stepchild of a current RCAT member company (owners and the employees of the member company’s children are eligible).

  • Applicant must meet Federal Student Aid eligibility requirements (as defined by the U.S. Department of Education: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/eligibility) 

  • Applicant must be at least a graduating high school senior OR, 

  • Must be enrolled in college as a full-time student (carrying 12 hours or more) OR,

  • Must be enrolled at a technical/trade school to pursue a degree or certification in construction or related industry.

Applicants/students pursuing second degrees or certifications are not eligible.



AWARDS

A minimum of three (3) $5,000.00 scholarships to be awarded each year in honor of RCAT Scholarship Foundation. The RCAT Foundation Board may, at its discretion, provide additional awards in any given calendar year. The awards will be sent directly to the college, university, or trade school for disbursement where the recipient will do his or her studies and/or undergraduate work. 


SELECTION (Applications are evaluated on the following items submitted with the application):

  1. Academic achievement-transcript (GPA)

  2. Personal Statement (writing skills, personal qualities, strengths, achievements, etc.)

  3. Letter of Recommendation

  4. Financial Need 


PREVIOUS RECIPIENTS

Applications are reviewed each year by different reviewers; therefore, all applicants must submit a new application and required documentation for each year of eligibility. Note: Previous recipients are neither more nor less likely to be selected than new applicants.


NOTIFICATION

Notifications will be mailed to students after July 1 to the permanent address listed. No prior acknowledgement will be made to applicants. All notifications are final and irrevocable. Please keep in mind that the number of applicants received exceeds the number of available scholarships.


APPLICATION DEADLINE

Application and all required documentation MUST be submitted by June 15th to ensure acceptance of the application. Incomplete applications or applications received after June 15th will not be accepted.

 

IT IS THE APPLICANT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THAT THE COMPLETE APPLICATION FORM AND ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS ARE SUBMITTED ON TIME; NO EXCEPTIONS OR EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN.

Founded in 1975, the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT) is a statewide trade association of roofing and waterproofing contractors. This group of professionals collectively represents the voice of the roofing and waterproofing industry in Texas. RCAT is committed to promoting ethics, education and the image of the Texas roofing industry through the actions of its members. RCAT is an active, progressive, living organization of members with a common interest and similar purpose in the business world. Through its many committees and specialty teams, there is a constant development of new ideas for programs and services. RCAT programs and services are, in most cases, vital to the successful operation of its member companies.
