2026 SCPGA Foundation College Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIPS TO AWARD 

SCPGA Foundation Scholarship 

Five (5) scholarships of $10,000.00 payable to the chosen college or university. 

Awarded by the Southern California PGA Foundation Board of Directors & Scholarship Committee. Recipient determined by the SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee. 

CRITERIA: 

• Recipient must graduate high school by September 1, 2026, and enroll in an accredited two or four year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so. 

• MUST have outstanding personal character and leadership qualities. 

• Preference given to Southern California Residents & SCPGA Junior Tour. Members. 

• Must submit resume, highlighting experience and accomplishments in the game of golf. 

Friends of Golf (FOG) Scholarship

Friends Of Golf (FOG) supports scholastic golfers with resources, equipment and programs so that they can compete and excel in a sport that promotes character, integrity and fellowship. What started out as a one-day local golf tournament, organized to raise money and equipment for boys and girls in southern California who lacked the resources to participate competitively, has turned into a nationwide fundraising juggernaut focused on bringing golf to all youth throughout the United States. 

• Four (4) scholarships of $2,500.00 payable to the chosen college or university. 

• Awarded by the SCPGA Foundation on behalf of the Friends of Golf (FOG) Board of Directors. Recipient determined by the SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee and the Friends of Golf Chairman and CEO. 

CRITERIA: 

• Recipients must graduate high school by September 1, 2026, and enroll in an accredited two or four-year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so. 

• MUST have outstanding personal character and leadership qualities. 

• Preference given to Southern California Residents. 

• Active participation in golf is not mandatory, but preferred. 

• MUST provide one-page description of how you have and will continue to be a “Friend of Golf.” Must submit resume, highlighting experience and accomplishments in the game of golf. 

Bob McCurry Memorial Scholarship

McCurry’s successful careers at Chrysler and Toyota spanned five distinct decades of the American and international automobile industries. Within the industry, he was regarded as an innovative leader, who stayed ahead of the competition by understanding consumer preferences and building strong personal relationships with his dealers. The McCurry Memorial Fund was established in 2007 to award college scholarship funds to exemplary student-athletes throughout Southern California. 

• Four (4) scholarships of $1,300.00 each payable to the chosen college or university. 

• Awarded by the SCPGA Foundation on behalf of the McCurry Family. 

• Recipient determined by SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee. 

CRITERIA: 

• Recipients must graduate high school by September 1, 2026, and enroll in an accredited two or four-year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so. 

• Must have outstanding personal character and leadership ability. 

• Participation in golf mandatory

• Must submit resume, highlighting experience and accomplishments in the game of golf. 

Travis Mathew Scholarship

• Two (2) scholarships of $2,500.00 each payable to the chosen college or university. 

• Awarded by the Southern California PGA Foundation Board of Directors & Scholarship Committee. Recipient determined by the SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee.

• Must submit resume, highlighting experience and accomplishments in the game of golf. 

Rex Cole Scholarship

Rex Cole was a PGA Life Member of 55 years who dedicated his life to growing the game. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, kindness, service, and putting the needs of others before his own. Rex Cole was a loving and respected man. He would take his time to teach children and adults who had no or very little money and couldn't afford to pay him. Rex would teach his free golf lessons on the weekends for everyone to learn to play the game. Rex's motto was "To Make a Friend A Day" and he was the one person who made you feel so appreciated as you left the course. 

• One (1) scholarship of $500 payable to the chosen college or university. 

• Recipient determined by the Cole Family and the SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee.

CRITERIA: 

• Recipients shall be an individual who is low income residing in the San Diego area. 

• A leader and someone who helps others in need. 

The Jane Scholarship

Jane Thomas Anderson Born April 1st, 1929 in Burlington, NC, Died January 23, 2023 Pauma Valley CA. Jane Anderson was a decorated women’s amateur golfer winning many amateur championships including the 1961Women’s San Francisco Open and the 1962 Oakland City Women’s Open. Jane earned a master’s degree in Special Education from the University of South Florida in 1970. She worked in the field of special education in Winter Haven, Florida and in the San Francisco School District for many years. Jane taught special education and many other grades all over the United States, finishing her career at Pauma School as their first grade teacher. Jane started the first children’ golf program at Pauma School. During her retirement, Jane enjoyed teaching junior golf to young students at the Pauma Valley Country Club. She was a beloved staple of the Pauma Valley Country Club and community. 

• One (1) scholarships of $3,000.00 each payable to the chosen college or university. 

• Awarded by the Southern California PGA Foundation Board of Directors & Scholarship Committee and Pauma Valley Country Club Committee. 

• Recipient determined by the SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee.

Applicants must be residents of Southern California and have completed (or plan to complete) high school by September 1st of the current year, and enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college or university. A full-time student is defined as one who is taking 12 or more hours in a course of study leading to a traditional Associate (2 year) or Baccalaureate (4 year) degree at an accredited college or university located in the United States.

The SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee will review class ranking, grade point average, either ACT or SAT test scores, extracurricular activities, and financial need in determining scholarship recipients. Extracurricular activities will help the Committee further evaluate the candidate's interest and abilities. Contributions to the community may be demonstrated by involvement in local clubs, organizations, or associations. These activities should be documented, and attested, by type and year involved. Any distinguished honors or awards should be noted on the application. Any questions will be settled by the Board of Directors of the SCPGA Foundation.

Scholarship recipients will be announced by July 1, 2026 and will be notified by the SCPGA Foundation Staff. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified and if eligible, will be encouraged to apply the following year. Recipients' names will be placed on the SCPGA website (www.scpgajrtour.com) after the notification date. All scholarship awards will be issued directly to the college/university of the recipient's choice. This completed application, along with a high school transcript AND a reference letter from a PGA Professional, Athletic Coach, Teacher, School Administrator, or School Counselor, and any required essays MUST be received by the SCPGA Foundation Office by 8 a.m. on June 10th, 2026.
