2025 AMVETS Children/Grandchildren Scholarship

AMVETS is proud to offer scholarships/grants to our nation’s Veterans, Active Duty, Guard and Reserves; their Spouses as well as their Children and Grandchildren.
AMVETS scholarships are designed to fulfill a financial gap after all Federal/State grants and/or scholarships available to an eligible applicant have been exhausted.
Grading Phases:
Phase One: Qualifications and Academic excellence
Phase Two: Essay and merit/volunteerism
Phase Three: Financial need and Scholar Notification
Apply between January through April 30th
*Incomplete and late entries will be disqualified.

Selection Process
Eligibility Requirements
Must be a United States Citizen
Must be the child or grandchild of an Honorably/General under Honorable Discharged conditions United States Veteran or Active Military to include National Guard and Reserves
Must be a 12th Grader entering college during the Fall Semester within the year of graduation
Must meet the AMVETS/FAFSA requires of a Regular Student
Must be enrolled in an eligible degree program at an accredited four (4) year college or university (NO POST GRAD)
Must demonstrate financial need
Must not be in default on a federal student loan
Must agree to authorize AMVETS to publicize scholarship award
Required Documents
Honorable discharged DD214, veteran record, or current letter from command (www.archives.gov)
High school transcripts providing GPA status/High school diploma
Tax Forms maybe requested but not required
FAFSA Submission Summary from the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (www.studentaid.gov)
Acceptance letter from an accredited college program
Expenses or publications from school
Student Resume highlighting four (4) year high school accomplishments, extra activities, and volunteerism
400 to 500 word themed essay (theme listed on application)
Notifications:
Winners will be notified by email in late June early July of the current year then listed on our website www.amvets.org/scholarships in August.
Incomplete and late entries will be disqualified
