Founded in 1994, the Indiana Golf Foundation was created to preserve and promote the game of golf in Indiana. The Indiana Junior Golf Program was already well-established, having been formed in 1987, and once moved under the Foundation umbrella, would continue to grow. In 1996, a scholarship program was created to provide financial assistance for students who actively participated in the Indiana Junior Golf Program.
Brittany Kelly PGA Associate Scholarship New
Description
Endowed by the Brittany Kelly Memorial Fund through the Indiana Golf Foundation, this scholarship is open to females entering or currently in the PGA Golf Management Program to apply for funding for their education costs. Average time to completion is 4 years and estimated cost for the education through Level 3 of the program is $4,000. The intention is to support the associate with 100% funding over their duration of education.
Brittany was a PGA Professional and Assistant Pro at Woodland Country Club in Carmel, Indiana. She lost her battle with ovarian cancer August 31, 2021. Brittany is best known for blazing a trail for women’s golf. She was the first woman in Indiana to be awarded the 2022 Indiana PGA Golf Professional of the Year and named Indiana PGA Women’s Player of the Year three consecutive years. Brittany was honored to hear that this award will carry her name from here forward. Brittany was also the first female to win the Assistant of the Year in 2017. She was a member of the USA PGA Tournament Committee and the Indiana PGA Board of Directors where she co-chaired the Associates Committee focusing on improving the communication to/and education of Associate professionals. Brittany’s most memorable golf experience was when she was a member of the inaugural Women’s PGA Cup Team and led the United States team to a victory in 2019. It was Brittany's wish and her family’s hope that this Memorial Fund fund will continue her legacy in supporting girls and women's golf in the state of Indiana through the Indiana Golf Foundation and Indiana Section PGA.
Selection Process
Initial Criteria:
- Must be in good standing and registered for Level 1 or higher in the Golf Management Program
- Work at an Indiana Golf PGA recognized facility.
- Submit Level 1 education costs and any documentation related to money spent on education to this point.
Annual Criteria: (to be considered for annual funding, receipt of annual education must be submitted and the below criteria met.)
- Must maintain an active status in the program to annually apply for continued funding
- Must remain working at an Indiana Golf PGA facility during the duration of education. If the associate moves into another section, the future funding of their education cost will not be funded.
