Byron Bird Scholarship 2026
Description
Named in honor of Byron Bird, CPA, recipient of the first American Institute of CPAs National Public Service Award, the Byron Bird Scholarship is awarded on the basis of a student’s undergraduate academic performance, potential for success in graduate studies, leadership, and participation in community, charitable, university, governmental and/or other civic activities. The award must be used in a full-time graduate course of study, with a concentration in accounting as defined by Kansas statutes and the Rules and Regulations of the Kansas Board of Accountancy within the State of Kansas (Article 2, 74-2-7).
Number of Recipients:
The scholarship is awarded to a current graduate accounting student or a graduate school candidate attending a Kansas school.
Selection Process:
The Board of Trustees of the Educational Foundation select the scholarship recipient during the March Board of Trustees meeting. The Byron Bird Scholarship recipient is not eligible for any other scholarship awarded by The Educational Foundation of the KSCPA during the same school year.

Application Process and Requirements:
• Must be a current full-time graduate student (or candidate) with a concentration in accounting course of study
• Must demonstrate academic success in the accounting curriculum
• Must submit a completed scholarship application and include a copy of your transcript and resume
• Must have two references complete a questionnaire, with one supporting your public service activities and one supporting your accounting academic performance (e.g., accounting professor or other faculty)
• Start and stop application as needed
