DeKalb County Farm Bureau High School Senior Scholarship 2025
Introduction
The DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation endeavors to recognize students for their academic, school and community performance while in high school. The recognition is in the form of a scholarship to the student’s college of choice.
Description
Senior Scholarship – The Senior Scholarship recognizes students for their academic performance, school activities, leadership, and community service. The $1,200 scholarship is available to high school seniors pursuing college degrees in any field of interest. Up to five scholarships will be awarded.
Joe Barshinger Ag Scholarship – Established in memory of Joe Barshinger, this $2,000 scholarship is earmarked for an Indian Creek High School graduating senior planning to attend a community college, university, or trade school and study agriculture. Student must be a member of FFA or 4-H Club. GPA requirement – 2.5 or greater.
James M. Johnson Ag Scholarship – The Johnson family established this scholarship in memory of James, farmer and veteran, in 2024. This scholarship is for a graduating High School senior within DeKalb County, who must also be a member of the FFA or a 4-H Club. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to study agriculture or the trades.
Qualifications
To apply for the Farm Bureau scholarship, a student must meet the following requirements:
Be a high school senior.
Be the son or daughter of a parent or guardian who has been a continual member in good standing of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau.
In the fall of 2025, plan to enroll in any field of interest in an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
Upon being awarded a scholarship, a recipient must:
Enroll as a full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) student for both fall and spring semesters.
Provide a statement attesting to the enrollment before payment is made.
Maintain a DeKalb County Farm Bureau membership.
Provide a photograph for Farm Bureau publicity.
Selection Process
An impartial selection committee composed of Farm Bureau members selects the recipients soon after the application deadline. The evaluation criteria will include academic performance and test scores, school activities and leadership experience, and involvement in community activities. The awards will not be based on financial need.

The DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture is proud to offer numerous scholarships for high school seniors and college students. Preference will be given to applicants of Farm Bureau members or their children with certain eligibility requirements.
