EAA Aviation Foundation Scholarship 2027

Introduction

ALL AWARDS WILL BE ANNOUNCED MARCH 1, 2027

Please review all policies on this page before beginning your application.

Are you interested in pursuing flight or a career in aviation or an aviation-related field? EAA offers scholarships to students of all ages to encourage careers in the world of aviation! Our flight training scholarships help support students interested in a private pilot certificate or additional ratings, while post-secondary scholarships support students pursuing an aviation-related program, such as aerospace engineering, air-traffic control, aviation management, or A&P maintenance.

Description

  • One application is used for ALL scholarships; scholarship applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they qualify.

  • Scholarship amounts are determined by donor funding, which may not be finalized until immediately before awarding.

  • Scholarships are not associated with any flight school or post-secondary program. They can be used at any accredited flight training school or post-secondary program in the U.S. or Canada.

  • All awards must be accepted within 3 months of award date. Declined or unaccepted awards will be directed to a student on our waiting list.

**If you are currently working on your PPL or a rating that will be completed before the application deadline, please wait to apply until that rating is completed. You will submit your application for the next rating you will be completing. There is no benefit to submitting early, and applications cannot be edited once submitted.

Selection Process

  • Must be at least 16 years old at the time of award.

  • Scholarships must be used at a flight-training program or post-secondary institution within the U.S. or Canada.

  • Selection criteria varies based on individual scholarships (e.g. GPA, state of residence, financial need, etc.).

  • To apply, you must be a citizen or resident of the U.S. or Canada, or be eligible to work or study in the U.S. or Canada, such as through a visa.

  • International applicants must have current and proper documentation to work or attend school in the U.S.

Application Considerations:

  •  We look for well-rounded applicants, who have a strong passion for aviation, and have participated in aviation and non-aviation clubs, organizations, and extracurricular activities.

  • While not required, we give preference to applicants who are an EAA member or a member of their local EAA chapter.

  • Volunteering for local organizations, both aviation and non-aviation related, will highlight your application to the selection committee.

  • We require a minimum 2.5 GPA required to apply for a post-secondary scholarship. Some individual scholarships have their own GPA requirement that may be higher.

  • To apply, you must be a citizen or resident of the U.S. or Canada, or be eligible to work or study in the U.S. or Canada, such as through a visa.

  • You are not eligible for a post-secondary scholarship if you hold a master’s or doctoral degree.

Plagiarism and AI Policy:

All essays, answers to questions, and other responses provided by an applicant must be the unique work of the applicant.  The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools or services by an applicant to automate or generate responses to questions on this application is strictly prohibited.  Plagiarism, which for purposes of this application is defined as using someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as your own, is also strictly prohibited.

Each application will be checked for AI and plagiarism.  If the AI writing detection tool utilized to analyze the scholarship application determines that 25% or more of the text submitted by the applicant is likely AI-generated text, the application will be immediately removed from consideration.  EAA Aviation Foundation, Inc. shall, in its sole and absolute discretion, choose the AI writing detection tool and software that will be used to analyze the application.

By submitting a scholarship application, you warrant and represent that any and all responses and content submitted are your original work.  The submission of a scholarship application is the applicant’s full and unconditional agreement, and acceptance of, the rules, policies and procedures as they relate to the application and the application submission process.

About the Organization

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is a growing and diverse organization of members with a wide range of aviation interests and backgrounds.

Founded in 1953 by a group of individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who were interested in building their own airplanes, EAA expanded its mission of growing participation in aviation to include antiques, classics, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters, and contemporary manufactured aircraft.

Membership in EAA enables you to share the spirit of aviation with the most passionate community of recreational pilots, builders, and restorers.

EAA is the only association that offers the fun and camaraderie of participating in the flying, building, and restoring of recreational aircraft with the most passionate community of aviation enthusiasts.
