Class of 2026 Scholarship Application
Introduction
The Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) has multiple scholarship opportunities, the AWGA Legacy Scholarship, the JGAA Founders Scholarship, the Keck Strong Scholarship, and the Andrew McLaren One Putt Memorial Scholarship.

Description
The AWGA Legacy Scholarship is carrying on the tradition of the Arizona Women’s Golf Association, giving back to junior girls’ golf in Arizona. The scholarships will be awarded to JGAA members/ Build A Team members.
Recipients can renew up to 3 times
The JGAA Founders Scholarship is named after three “Life Thunderbirds” who helped organize the JGAA in 1983: Payne Palmer, Phil Edlund, and Tom Hornaday, along with AZ Golf Association Executive Director at the time, John Riggle, incorporated the JGAA in 1983, after seeing the success of the San Diego Junior Golf Association.
One-time Award
The Keck Strong Scholarship is named after Jeremy Keck, funded with proceeds from the annual Keck Strong Fundraiser. Jeremy Keck was a beloved son, brother, husband, and father whose life was tragically cut short when he passed away suddenly on September 2, 2020, at the age of 37. Jeremy, the son of Jeff and Terri Keck, was born with a complex congenital heart defect and underwent his first open-heart surgery at 4 months old.
One-time Award
The Andrew McLaren One Putt Memorial Scholarship is named after JGAA Alum Andre McLaren who passed away in November 2024. The game of golf was Andrew’s greatest passion. It combined many things he loved: being outside, good exercise, sportsmanship, spending quality time with friends, and always improving his game. Andrew had a great reverence for the history and traditions of golf and was a fierce competitor.
One-time Award
Qualifications
Candidate must be an Arizona resident, and must be, or have been, a member of any organized golf program during high school in Arizona, such as a JGAA member, high school golfer, LPGA USGA Girls of Phoenix Member.
Financial need will be considered before awards are given.
Candidate must be a graduating Arizona High School Senior in the year they are applying or Arizona high school graduate that has completed less than two years of college by January 1 of the year in which they apply or has a GED diploma.
Scholarships may be applied to expenses at 2 and 4 year colleges or universities and accredited trade schools to cover tuition, general fees, room, board, books, and lab fees.
Recipients must retain a 2.5 (or higher) grade point average and must reapply for subsequent years of eligibility.
The scholarship may be renewed on an annual basis (up to 3 times). This will be verified when the scholarship is finalized by the JGAA Scholarship Committee.
