NLSC 2026 Immersive Experience (Construction) Application

Introduction

The NLSC 2026 Immersive Construction Experience Travel Grant is sponsored by the SkillsUSA partner Bosch Community Fund.

This high impact, three day immersive experience blends career exploration with applied learning across today’s most in demand construction fields. Through hands on, real world construction scenarios, SkillsUSA members work alongside industry professionals to build confidence, clarify career goals, and strengthen job readiness.

Participants leave the experience with clearer career direction and a stronger occupational identity, increased confidence in both technical and professional skills, direct connections with construction industry professionals, and the potential to earn an industry recognized credential.

Description

Participants should have a foundational understanding of construction and be ready to apply their knowledge in authentic settings.

Hands-on experiences include:

  • Construction-based simulations, such as:

    • Analyzing and selecting competitive project bids

    • Evaluating an urban commercial site plan

    • Managing a disgruntled customer professionally

  • Honest, career-focused conversations with industry professionals

  • Exploration of an active job site

Opportunities to earn an industry-recognized credential

Who Can Apply:

  • High School SkillsUSA Student Members

  • College/Postsecondary SkillsUSA Student Member

Program Enrollment Requirements:

  • Building Trades & Renovations

  • Carpentry

  • Electrical

  • HVACR

  • Plumbing

Important

Participants may NOT be registered competitors or conference delegates.

Selection Process

To meet eligibility criteria for the SkillsUSA Immersive Experience

  • must be a current registered member of SkillsUSA for the 2025-2026 membership year

  • be a current high school or postsecondary student

  • be currently enrolled in one of the following construction program areas: Building Trades & Renovations, Carpentry, Electrical, HVACR or Plumbing

  • register and attend the 2026 National Leadership and Skills Conference with your chapter.
