San Mateo County Bar Foundation Scholarship 2026

Introduction

The SMCBA has created the Scholarship Committee to oversee the process of the Corey, Luzaich, de Ghetaldi & Riddle Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a law student who has completed at least one year at an accredited Bay Area law school and is currently enrolled in law school. Priority for the scholarship will be given to those who are members of a historically underrepresented group in the legal profession, as well people identifying as a person with disabilities, openly LGBTQ, and/or a military veteran, applicants who exhibit financial need, and those who intend to use their degree to serve the Bay Area community. The total award per recipient is a maximum of $25,000. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to award a lower amount or award multiple scholarships in any given year.

Corey, Luzaich, de Ghetaldi & Riddle Legacy Scholarship The law firm of Corey, Luzaich, de Ghetaldi & Riddle LLP has been a cornerstone of the San Mateo County legal community since founding partner George R. Corey hung his shingle in 1964. Partners Stevan N. Luzaich, Dario de Ghetaldi, and Amanda L. Riddle, joined the firm in 1973, 1989, and 2001, respectively. CLD&R’s partners believe that the continuing strength of the legal profession lies in its future members. They know that engaging with other lawyers who bring varying perspectives benefits the collective pursuit for justice. Selection Process

Late applications will not be considered. ***Before receiving scholarship funds, recipients will be required to demonstrate enrollment in one of the enumerated Bay Area-based ABA-accredited law school. Students who leave law school after being admitted will be required to return all or a proportional amount of scholarship funds.***
