THLA Short Course 2025

Description

  • The scholarship awards are to be used by the recipients for education and/or related expenses.

  • All scholarships awarded by the Hotel Association of North Texas are considered to be grants, not loans.

  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered

  • A panel will review and rate the applications and scholarship awards will be based solely on these ratings. 

  • Applicants will be notified of their status via e-mail. 

THLA’s Annual Short Course is professional development for emerging hotel leaders. It's a one-of-a-kind, all-in-one hospitality training event that has been awarded “Best Educational Program in the Nation” by the International Society of Hotel Association Executives. The 78th Annual Short Course will be held January 6-10, 2025 at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership.


Each discipline is covered in a 90-minute session, exposing employees to the full spectrum of hotel management.


  • Front office personnel will learn about marketing plans

  • Food and beverage staff will learn about housekeeping

  • Accounting staff will learn about employment law, et cetera!

Selection Process

For an applicant to be eligible, they must:

  • Be an employee of a HANTX Member Hotel in good standing. Please contact the office at 214-484-7060 if you have questions.
  • Complete the Online Application
  • Provide one letter of recommendation
  • Provide a brief essay statement (350 words or less, or personal video or PowerPoint presentation) on what knowledge you hope to gain and how this course will help you in your current position.
  • Essay – 350 words or less
  • Personal Video – not more than 5 minutes
  • PowerPoint Presentation – saved in a PDF format

The Hotel Association of North Texas (HANTX) is a not-for-profit trade organization that has been in existence and working with hoteliers in the North Texas region for more than 95 years to strengthen the industry.

Our membership encompasses a six-county region. Additionally, our members include various hospitality partners from audio visual to transportation providers that support this vital industry.

We support the industry through advocacy efforts, educational programming and scholarships and take part in efforts to give back to our community through various volunteer opportunities.
