Description

Since 1966, the Foundation, Texas Association of Nurseries (TAN), and Texas Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA) have awarded 750 scholarships totaling $1,090,050.


The Foundation has worked diligently to develop a scholarship program that sustains itself, provides new donors with a meaningful way to contribute, and cultivates applicants while encouraging recipients to identify with the industry.

Qualifications

1) Applicant must reside in Texas.

2) Applicant must be a high school senior or returning college student (including seniors and graduates) majoring in a major supported by the Texas Green Industry, business or related field if demonstrated as applicable to Horticulture and must demonstrate an intent to enter the Green Industry in Texas after graduation. Applicant must attend an accredited Texas school for the period covered by the scholarship.

3) Applicant must submit with their application form a current copy of high school and or college transcripts for each school attended. Last semester must be on the transcript. High school transcripts are not necessary if you have completed at least one semester of college and are presently attending college.

4) Applicant should be recommended in writing by at least two (2) of the following: a member of the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association, most recent employer, horticultural instructor, counselor, club advisor, religious leader, or other persons qualified to attest to your abilities, character, and scholastic ability. Submit all references with your application as they are very helpful in assisting the Trustees in their selection of recipients.

5) By obtaining a Texas Nursery & Landscape Association Member Sponsor you will receive extra points on judging. See the question pertaining to this within the application for more details.

Must submit letters (at least two) of recommendation with this application form from any of the following showing your aspirations in the Green Industry:

• Member of the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association

• Most recent employer,

• Horticultural Instructor / Professor or Club advisor

• Religious leader

• or Other persons qualified to attest to your character and scholastic ability (Note: Good personal references are important to your application.)

6) Attach a video and tell the judges in your own words clearly and concisely state the reason (or reasons) that you deserve this scholarship. (Mandatory. 3 minute maximum) Applications without a video will be considered incomplete.

7) Completed application with all required attachments must be submitted no later than January 16th, 2026.

About The Foundation

The TNLA Foundation was established in 1992. A nine-member Board of Trustees plus two staff-appointed positions manage the business of the Foundation. ​ The main purposes of the Foundation are: - To conduct fundraising activities on behalf of and to support the overall purposes of the Foundation. - To operate exclusively for the purposes of awarding funds to horticulture/landscape students for their continued education and to award funds for research in horticulture/landscape areas of interest in Texas. The TNLA Foundation is irrevocably dedicated to and is organized exclusively for charitable purposes. The Foundation receives contributions and distributes funds for educational and research purposes.
