Unitil Scholarship Fund 2025
Description
Purpose:
To support high school seniors in our current service territories in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts who demonstrate outstanding potential for careers in science, technology, engineering, or math.
Field of Study:
Students majoring in science, technology, engineering, or math may apply.
Level of Education for Which Award Is Granted:
Undergraduate degree
Number, Amount and Type of Award:
Five scholarships (one in each Region (Capital, Seacoast, Fitchburg, Portsmouth, Portland)) in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded for use during the student’s upcoming academic year.
One alternate winner will be selected for each scholarship in the event that an award is declined or that the winner subsequently becomes ineligible. The alternate winner will not be notified unless the original winner declines or becomes ineligible. A recipient of a previous scholarship from Unitil is not eligible to apply for another scholarship from Unitil.
Criteria for selection:
The Unitil Scholarship Committee will base its decision for awarding scholarships on a combination of factors including academic merit, financial need, other scholarships awarded, outside student activities and other relevant factors such as the number of hours worked outside of class during the school year.
Method of Disbursement:
A $2,500 check will be issued directly to the college or university on behalf of the student for the fall term following the scholarship award decision made in May, upon receipt of registration documentation. A second $2,500 check will be made directly to the college or university on behalf of the student for the spring term.
Selection Process
The applicant must reside (primary address) and attend a school located in one of the cities/towns in our Unitil service territories. The applicant must be enrolled in a degree program with a declared major or concentration in science, technology, engineering, or math.
