Out for Education
The mission of Out for Education is to provide educational scholarships to Houston area LGBTQIA+ youth.
Our journey began in 1998 when PFLAG-Houston and the Houston Area Teen Coalition of Homosexuals (H.A.T.C.H.) united with a shared mission: to uplift LGBTQ+ youth in Houston. This powerful alliance led to the creation of the PFLAG/HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation in 1999, marking the start of an incredible journey.
In 2013, we rebranded as Out for Education, a name that reflects our unwavering dedication to education and the LGBTQ+ community.
Our name encapsulates our mission:
We are out. We are for education. We are Out for Education.
