Part II: Poster

  • All entries will display a poster for the IONL Spring Conference.
  • Posters should identify a concrete problem and quantify a result.
  • All posters will need to be able to stand on a table independently for the conference.

  

Nurses are always developing innovations and improving the quality of care in various ways. Sometimes innovative thinking helps one patient overcome a troublesome symptom. Other times, initiatives aimed at quality improvement and clinical practice innovation can benefit a multitude of patients system wide. The 2024 Innovations in Health Care Award, sponsored by the Iowa Organization for Nursing Leadership, will honor nurses who are evaluating the scientific evidence, changing clinical practice and improving quality outcomes. 

Selection Process

Eligibility                                                    

  • All individuals holding membership in IONL are eligible to apply for this award, if you are not an IONL member please contact Jennifer Nutt [email protected].
  • Multiple entries may be submitted from a single institution if all the criteria have been met.

Selection Criteria

Applications for IONL’s Award for Innovations in Health Care will be reviewed by the Professional Recognition Committee. Nominations for the award will be forwarded to the IONL Board for final approval.


Applications will be scored on the following:

  • Demonstrates creativity and uniqueness
  • Evidence-based
  • Key elements of the project
  • Project development and implementation
  • Project Outcomes
  • Project potential for successful application in other settings
  • Project Evaluation
  • Project Completeness (Part I & Part II)

About The Association

The Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation Health Care Careers Scholarship Program began in 2005 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Iowa Hospital Association. IHERF’s main function is the oversight of the health careers scholarship fund. The goal of this program is to fill health care positions that have a significant number of openings statewide and to recruit students with the opportunity to obtain significant scholarships to help cover the costs of health care education.


The Iowa Hospital Association is a nonprofit trade association of hospitals and health system members. The association was established in 1929 and provides advocacy, education and information to its members. It represents and advocates health policy issues benefiting Iowans before the state legislature, US Congress and regulatory bodies. The Iowa Hospital Association is headquartered in Des Moines and is an allied member of the American Hospital Association.
