Caltrans District 1 Scholarship 2025

Description

High school seniors or college undergraduates who are from or are living in Caltrans District 1 (includes the counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino) are eligible to apply.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Plan to pursue a career in transportation.

  • Attend or be accepted to a post-secondary institute (college/university/vocational/technical school) in California.

  • Provide an official transcript to verify Grade Point Average (GPA).

  • Include a description of participation in extra-curricular and/or community-related activities.

  • Write an essay (250-600 words) telling us about yourself and why you're interested in a career in transportation.

Letters of recommendation will be considered but are not required. Please note that students related to Caltrans employees may apply.

The California Department of Transportation, District 1 — in conjunction with the California Transportation Foundation (CTF) and Caltrans Social Fund — is excited to announce the availability of one $2,250 scholarship. This scholarship opportunity supports the professional growth and development of students seeking a career in transportation.

Selection Process

One applicant will be selected by a committee made up of staff representing various units within Caltrans District 1. The scholarship is competitive and based upon the applicant's commitment to a career in transportation, academic record and participation in extra-curricular or community-related activities. Financial need may be considered.
