2025 Consumers Cooperative Undergraduate Scholarship

Introduction

Consumers Cooperative Association, the proud sponsor of Consumers Credit Union, has launched a scholarship program to support eligible undergraduate students who wish to further their education in college. These scholarships are available for full-time study at any accredited institution of the student’s choosing. Funding for the scholarship comes from the one-time membership fee that members pay when joining the Consumers Cooperative Association, enabling them to become eligible for membership at Consumers Credit Union.

Description

The Consumers Cooperative Association is offering seventeen (17) scholarships totaling $40,000 for eligible members pursing their undergraduate degree. Fifteen (15) undergraduate students will be selected to receive a scholarship worth $2,000.  Additionally, one (1) undergraduate student will be selected to receive the Gayhart Silvola $5,000 Memorial Scholarship, one (1) undergraduate student will be selected to receive the Dorotha Betke $5,000 Honorary Scholarship. The scholarships will be disbursed in a single installment by the Consumers Cooperative Association. The checks will be payable to the recipients' schools and mailed to the students' home addresses by August 1, 2025.

Qualifications

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. The applicant must be a member of Consumers Credit Union in good standing for a minimum of three years as of 10/1/2021.

  2. The applicant must plan to attend an accredited 2+ year college, university, or trade school for the 2025-2026 academic year.

  3. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the 2025-2026 academic year (with at least 24 credit hours remaining to graduation).

  4. Applicant must have a 3.0 grade point average.

Please note that applications will only be deemed complete and eligible for selection if ALL of the following items are included with your application. No exceptions will be made.

Required documents include:

  • A current unofficial transcript in PDF format. This document will look similar or identical to an official transcript but may not have a seal or tamper-proof mark, nor will it be in a sealed envelope.

Selection Process

Scholarship awards will be based on the information and supporting documentation provided in the application. Recipients are selected based on community involvement, school participation, work experience, academic performance, essays, unique personal or family circumstances, and financial need. The Consumers Cooperative Association Scholarship Committee is responsible for selecting the scholarship recipients. All applicants agree to accept the committee's decision as final.

Completing the Online Application:

  1. Once all application requirements are fulfilled, carefully review your application before clicking the "Submit" button.

  2. Ensure that you upload all necessary documents before applying.

  3. No additions or changes can be made once your application is submitted.

  4. After submission, a confirmation message will appear on your screen acknowledging receipt of your application.

  5. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that their application has been submitted. Only submitted applications will be considered for scholarship awards.

All applications must be submitted by January 15, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CST (Central Standard Time). Selected applicants will be notified by June 30, 2025. Please note that not all applicants will be chosen as recipients.
