2026 Dr. Judith J. Carrier Scholarship Program

Description

The Greater Arlington Chamber's Women's Alliance is focused on empowering and uniting women through business and community endeavors. The Women's Alliance pledges to offer leadership, mentoring, and direction to its devoted members and is committed to strengthening women as professional, business, community and civic leaders.

 

The Dr. Judith J. Carrier Scholarship Program and the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce Foundation are dedicated to cultivating and developing the next generation of women leaders by awarding nine: three Undergraduate TCC-SE, three Undergraduate UTA and three Graduate UTA level, scholarships totaling $19,000.

 

Through a partnership with Medical City Arlington, Texas Health Resources and Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, we are also awarding two nursing scholarships totaling $6,000. Below are the scholarship opportunities and eligibility requirements.

 

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Two (2) $1,500 Scholarships to the University of Texas at Arlington

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

  • Must be a female undergraduate student attending TCC-SE or UTA

  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at TCC-SE or UTA

  • Must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours at TCC-SE or UTA in the fall of 2026

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

 

GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Two (2) $5,000 Scholarships to the University of Texas at Arlington

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a female graduate student

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree

  • Must have successfully completed 9 or more credit hours or whatever your program deems to be full-time at UTA

  • Must be enrolled in 9 or more credit hours or whatever your program deems to be full-time at UTA in the fall of 2026

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

 

MEDICAL CITY ARLINGTON

One (1) $3,000 Scholarship to the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a Female undergraduate student enrolled in a nursing major

  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at TCC-SE or UTA

  • Must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours at TCC-SE or UTA in the fall of 2026

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Application must demonstrate a personal commitment to healthcare service

 

TEXAS HEALTH RESOURCES I TEXAS HEALTH ARLINGTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

One (1) $3,000 Scholarship to the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a Female undergraduate student enrolled in a nursing major

  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at TCC-SE or UTA

  • Must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours at TCC-SE or UTA in the fall of 2026

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Application must demonstrate a personal commitment to healthcare service

* Texas Health Resources and Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital will grant preference, 1) to a student pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing degree from UT Arlington; 2) to a student pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree from TCC who have completed all prerequisite courses from TCC-SE, has received acceptance to the TCC-Trinity River East Nursing Program for the Fall or Spring Semester, and intends to secure a BSN within two (2) years of graduation; and 3) to a student who intends to work in a high-demand, in-patient nursing care area.

 

Please note that these are merit-based scholarships and may have an impact on any need-based or athletic scholarships you have been or will be awarded.

Selection Process

INTENDED USE OF SCHOLARSHIPS

The scholarship is intended to be used for tuition and fees. Funds may initially be split between the two semesters, at the discretion of the university or college, and any remaining funds will continue to roll from semester to semester until they have been exhausted. In the event the student transfers to a college/university other than Tarrant County College-Southeast or the University of Texas at Arlington, the remaining scholarship funds are non-transferable.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Please read all of the instructions as the application packet must include the following :

  • Completed Electronic Application

  • Resume

  • A Professional Looking Photo (Headshot) of You

  • One Letter of Recommendation

  • Official Transcripts

  • Essay (750-1,000 words)

  • Personal Statement (50-100 words)

 

 JUDGING CRITERIA

The application will be scored on the following criteria: academic achievement, community engagement, character and the overall impression of the complete application.

 

The essay will be evaluated based upon content, career, community and presentation. A well-written essay will portray a degree of knowledge and understanding about your chosen career, an understanding of the educational path required to achieve your career goals and how your career contributes to the growth and success of women in our local community.

 

SELECTION PROCESS

Members of the Greater Arlington Chamber's Women's Alliance Scholarship Committee will review all completed applications received. The Scholarship Committee and the Executive Committee of the Women's Alliance will determine the recipients based on the required criteria with final approval from the Chamber's Board of Directors.

 

RECIPIENT RECOGNITION EVENT

All recipients will be recognized on stage at the Annual Inspired Women Luncheon on Friday, February 27, 2026 and are required to attend. If you are unable to attend the event, this may hinder your potential of receiving any of the scholarships. Recipients will be permitted to bring one (1) guest with them to the event.

 

APPLICATION IS DUE SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2025 AT 11:59 PM CST

Essay Question: Explain in detail your career development plan in a particular course of study and how that acquired knowledge will translate into achieving career goals in the workplace. Then address how you would connect your goals and achievements to contribute to the continued growth and success of women in the greater Arlington community.
