Freddie L. Smith Scholarship 2025
Description
The Freddie L. Smith Scholarship has been established in honor of Freddie L. Smith, a long-time educator in Prince William County. This scholarship is to be awarded to the student who best exemplifies both community service and an intense interest in education beyond high school.
This $6,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a well-rounded individual with community service, strong academics, and school involvement. The applicant must use the scholarship toward tuition to a college or university in the state of Virginia or Washington, D.C.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants should meet the following criteria:
Be a graduating senior in good academic standing from Potomac High School in Dumfries, Virginia.
Plan to attend a four-year Virginia or Washington, D.C., college or university in the fall following graduation.
Demonstrate voluntary service to the local community (Prince William County or the metropolitan area).
Submit three letters of recommendation from adults who can validate the student’s commitment to the community, interest in further education, and/or good character. One letter must be from a school staff member.
Demonstrate need for this financial assistance.
