Kids' Chance of California Scholarship Application 2026-2027
Introduction
Kids’ Chance of California (KCCA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide need-based educational scholarships to the children of California workers who have been seriously or fatally injured on the job. Scholarships are awarded once a year and students may apply every year they attend classes.
Description
Scholarships may be used for tuition and education‑related expenses at accredited colleges, universities, or technical schools.
Application Window: March 16 – May 18, 2026
Supporting Documents Due: June 21, 2026
Qualifications
Applicant must be between the ages of 16 – 25 years.
Applicant must be the child or legal dependent of a worker seriously or fatally injured in a compensable work-related accident or occupational disease with a California employer.
Student applicant and/or deceased/injured worker are not required to be a legal resident of the United States.
Applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need.
Applicant must be enrolled, accepted or applying for acceptance as a full-time or part-time student at a university, college or technical school.

A completed KCCA scholarship application in Kaleidoscope.
Proof of enrollment or acceptance at University/College/Technical School.
Completed KCCA financial aid release form for 2026-2027 school year (Download the KCCA Financial Aid Form Here), send to your school for completion.
Your 2025–2026 FAFSA Submission Summary.
Documentation of accepted workers compensation claim, such as:
- Letter from claims adjuster accepting claim/liability,
- Findings and Award by a WCAB judge (judges’ decision),d
- Stipulations with Request for Award (settlement decision) indicating that the parent’s injury or death was determined to be work-related/compensable.
Please do not send medical records. If received by KCCA they will be destroyed after scholarship application is received.
Selection Process
1. KCCA will do a preliminary review of all completed applications. Application deadline is May 18, 2026 for Fall and Spring scholarship funds. All supporting deliverables must be uploaded no later than June 21, 2026 to be considered.
2. The KCCA Scholarship Committee will review all complete applications once required deliverables are uploaded.
3. KCCA Board of Directors will review all completed applications including the recommendations made by the Scholarship Review Committee and will make a final determination regarding the scholarships to be awarded.
4. KCCA will then notify the applicant of their award status and how awarding will be distributed.
5. Applicants must reapply for a scholarship each year. Scholarships are awarded annually and subject to enrollment documentation and availability of funds.
