Whether you’re preparing for college, advancing your current studies, changing careers, or training for a skilled trade or technical profession, this scholarship is designed to open doors and remove financial barriers.

The Loretta M. Burd Scholarship supports a wide range of educational goals, including:
Four‑year colleges and universities
Two‑year degree programs
Continuing education or career transitions
Accredited trade and technical schools in fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, construction, automotive technology, IT, cosmetology, and more
We’re proud to support students building practical skills that strengthen our communities and fuel our local workforce.
Centra Foundation believes in the power of education—whether it happens in a classroom, a workshop, a lab, or a training center. That’s why we offer scholarships for graduating high school seniors and adult students over the age of 22 who plan to attend a two- or four- year college, university, or technical/trade school.
Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: academic achievements, school and community involvement, and a written essay related to financial literacy.

Scoring and Selection Criteria
The Loretta M. Burd Scholarship Selection Committee reviews and evaluates scholarship applications, and the scholarship winners will be announced in April 2026.
