Applicant Eligibility
Scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing courses of study for careers related to the electric industry, such as an electrical technician (field service technician, wind turbine maintenance, power plant maintenance, etc.), electrical engineer or other engineering disciplines, mathematics, science, energy management, or other fields including but not limited to accounting, economics, marketing and communications, IT, or cybersecurity.
Applicants must reside in a household receiving electric service from an MRES member utility.
Must enroll in a full-time* undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school no later than the fall of 2026.
Applicants must be a high school senior graduating in the 2025-2026 school year.
These scholarships are renewable if the student meets certain academic criteria.
* Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire academic year.

Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) scholarships are open to high school seniors who will be enrolled full-time for fall semester 2026 at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
Up to five scholarships of $1,000 each are available to students whose families reside in a household receiving electric service from one of 61 municipal utilites that are members of MRES. These scholarships may be renewed for up to three additional years for a total of $4,000.
