2025 Student Opportunity Fund
Description
The Student Opportunity Fund (formerly the Academic Opportunity Fund) provides educators and schools with the resources they need to bridge opportunity gaps and create a level playing field for all students. We believe there should be no limits and no barriers, just boundless opportunities for every Boulder Valley student. We prioritize grants that expand access to resources, opportunities, and support for students from marginalized and underserved communities.
While the needs of BVSD students are vast, Impact on Education is focused on three key areas, and we are soliciting applications from BVSD educators that help foster academically prepared students, student wellbeing & belonging, and future-ready students.
Funding requests include:
Individual or small-group tutoring
Extended learning and enrichment opportunities
Test prep and other supplemental education support
Guest speakers and author visits
Class fees and materials*
Software or technology to support learning*
Mental health resources and belonging materials or initiatives
Multicultural resources
Career/College readiness resources
Requests focused on student access to education
*Curricular and technology requests must be run through the district prior to approval and grant awarding.
For information on grant requests that we are unable to fund, application timeline, recommendations, and more, be sure to check out the SOF Grant Guidelines.

Impact on Education is the foundation supporting 28,000 students and 4,000 educators of the Boulder Valley School District. Since 1983, we’ve provided supplemental funding and resources to students and educators in order to expand what’s possible in education.
Our work prioritizes students overcoming the greatest obstacles by addressing economic and learning barriers that curtail success, increasing equity among our students, and closing opportunity gaps.
