Walker Williams Wilson Memorial Scholarship 2025
Description
The Seeking Visions, Gaining Success Foundation (SVGS), and Walker-Williams-Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund, were established in 2018. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance, empower, educate and encourage deserving and committed African American male scholars to attend a Historically Black College and Universities. The SVGS Foundation through the Walker-Williams-Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund principally targets high school seniors entering their first year of post-secondary education and those scholars continuing their undergraduate education. However, consideration is also given to current full-time graduate students currently enrolled at an HBCU.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE is based on academic performance, leadership potential, and participation in community service initiatives including but not limited to volunteer hours. Scholarships are awarded annually, provided funds are available.
The SVGS Foundation awards scholarships on the basis of a comprehensive process. Areas that are reviewed by the committee include, but are not limited to, the following: Academic Accomplishments, Community Service, Requested Application Criteria and Financial Need. The Foundation pays the scholarship funds directly to the school of the winning recipients. Scholarships are awarded annually. Scholarships awarded are based upon the availability of funds and additional qualifying criteria.
Timeline
Applications are due April 21st of the current calendar year.
Applicants are notified if awarded a scholarship in June.
Awards are distributed annually by September 1st , after all requirements are met.
Scholarship Applicants Must Provide
Completed application form.
Official proof of academic standing (transcript).
Proof of acceptance or enrollment at an academic school for post-secondary studies.
Awardees will be asked to provide Student ID, and the correct mailing address of their institution and the department where their scholarship check is to be used.

Submission Information
Accepted forms of content submissions:
Essay - 400 word Maximum
Video- 3 minute Maximum (Strongly encouraged)
Applicants must complete and submit a Scholarship Application by April 21, 2025.
Eligibility
Applicants must be completing or have completed high school successfully with a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale. If an applicant is in the process of completing an undergraduate degree a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale will be required.
Applicants must be accepted as a full-time male student at a Historical Black College or University for the upcoming academic semester.
Applicants must be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
Current full-time Students with enrollment at an Historically Black College or University - 3.0 or higher.
High School Seniors with acceptance to an Historically Black College or University - GPA 2.7 or higher.
