Description
The William & Lois Morrow Quarry Employee Scholarship Fund provides educational scholarships to employees of The Quarry at La Quinta, as well as their spouses and children. The fund supports eligible high school and college students in pursuing their academic and career goals and encourages lifelong learning and enrichment beyond high school for individuals of all ages.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria prior to the application deadline:
i. Be a current full-time, part-time, seasonal, or contracted employee of The Quarry at La Quinta in good standing, with a minimum of six months of employment;
ii. Be a dependent child of a current employee as described above. Dependents include biological, step-, or legally adopted children who live in the employee’s household or are primarily supported by the employee;
iii. Be the spouse or domestic partner of a current employee as defined in item 1
To apply for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be in their final year of high school, a graduate of an accredited high school, or have earned a high school equivalency (GED).
Plan to enroll, have applied to, or accepted into an educational program in the United States during the Fall 2026, Spring 2027 or Summer 2027 terms that leads to a degree or certificate of completion. Eligible programs include junior colleges, two- or four-year colleges, trade schools, certificate programs, vocational-technical schools, and graduate-level education beyond a bachelor’s degree.
Be pursuing their first Associate, Bachelor, Master, Certificate, or Credential degree.
For traditional post-secondary education, maintain active enrollment and are encouraged to take a minimum of 8 units per term.
Maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.
Annual Scholarship Opportunity
i. Scholarships are valid only for the academic year in which the applicant applies or receives an award. Scholarships are not renewable, and no guarantees or carryover awards will be made for future academic years.
ii. All applicants must reapply each year and meet the eligibility requirements in effect at the time of application. Previous recipients are encouraged to apply annually.
iii. A maximum of five scholarship awards may be granted to any individual student.
Additional Program
Adult Basic Education Program: Throughout the year, the scholarship fund will provide employees and their spouses the opportunity to get help to earn their high school diploma, obtain their GED and learn English through College of the Desert’s Adult Basic Education Program. The fund will only pay for one-time preparation and exam fees per person enrolled.
Maximum Award Amounts:
$15,000.00 maximum award to anyone seeking a scholarship.
All eligibility criteria will be reviewed and approved by the committee each year.
