Al Tauscher Award 2025-2026
Description
As the community partner of the Multnomah Athletic Club, Multnomah Athletic Foundation support this program's application process to honor remarkable young people who are actively engaged in athletics, school and community. The spirit of this recognition is Al Tauscher – a community volunteer, a renaissance man and an athlete. He was part of the MAC community for over 50 years. The award recognizes positive behavior among students from grade 6 through 12 who have experience in a wide range of athletic and social opportunities at MAC, their schools, and from other community volunteer programs.
Attributes the awards look to recognize:
Participates in regular and extracurricular school activities
Contributes time and energy to community programs
Demonstrates characteristics of leadership and an essential team player
Maintains strong academic standing
Participates in MAC social and athletic activities
To honor the community connections and leadership of remarkable MAC members, the Multnomah Athletic Foundation provides a $300 grant for each recipient to donate to a foundation community grant partner. The foundation is thrilled to enable leadership and impact in the community.
Application Notes:
The application deadline is January 23, 2026.
A completed application will require a transcript, one letter of recommendation and answering several short essay questions.
If you are applying and are 13 years old or younger, this online system will require an extra step to protect you. The system will ask you for a parent or guardian email to provide consent for you to use the online application. Once they have completed the consent form, you will get an email to create your username and password and start the application.
Selection Process
Applicants must be:
- A current Multnomah Athletic Club member in good standing
- Currently in grades 6 – 8 to apply in the 'Junior' category or grades 9 – 12 to apply in the 'Teen' category


The Multnomah Athletic Foundation is grounded in support of youth participation in athletic and educational activities that promote discipline, leadership, and skill development. Founded in 1991, athletic participation is the heart of the foundation.
The Multnomah Athletic Foundation focuses on community outreach to increase access to opportunities. The foundation has provided over $824,000 in community grants supporting youth sports participation and awarded over $2 million in scholarships to student athletes in the Portland metro area.
