Scholarship Information
Recognizing the importance of dental assistants to the future of dentistry, the Pacific Dental Services Foundation created the Dr. Carolyn Ghazal Dental Assistant Scholarship. The scholarship provides students with need based financial aid*, mentorship, and on the job training. Named after Dr. Carolyn Ghazal and her heart for service, the scholarship aims to mold the next generation of passionate, servant-hearted, dental assistant leaders.
Scholarships are awarded based on application excellence, financial need, and a heart for service. Each scholarship recipient can be awarded up to $5,000 in financial aid. Application cycles open four times a year, with multiple scholarships awarded in each cycle.
Scholarship money is eligible to be used solely for tuition at a dental assistant certification program at an accredited health care vocational training institute with campuses in the U.S. Scholarship money will be issued and disbursed to the Financial Aid Department or Bursars Office at the institute of your enrollment.
Eligibility
Any dental assistant student over the age of 18 who is a U.S. citizen or legal resident and possesses a high school diploma or GED may apply. The applicant must be currently enrolled in a dental assistant program (high school programs excluded) with tuition costs of over $3,000 and be within the first 50% of their program. The dental assistant program must be in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MN, MO, NC, NM, NV, OH, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA to qualify for this scholarship. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Previous applicants are not eligible to apply.

Recipient Selection Process
All applicants will receive communication regarding the status of their application via phone or email. Scholarship recipients will be notified, by email following a virtual interview.
*Need Based Financial Aid: Scholarship recipient’s award amount is based on financial need, the amount awarded not to exceed $5,000, but could be less than $5,000 based on financial information provided by the student’s school.
