Swanson Family Scholarship 2025-2026
Description
The Swanson Family scholarship recognizes student-athletes who excel in sports, academics, and community service. By supporting those with financial need, Roger and Gale Swanson invest in the future of exceptional young leaders.
Applicants should be energetic and confident examples of achievement through athletics in our community. Students must demonstrate financial need to attend school, participate in competitive athletics, have a minimum cumulative unweighted 3.0 GPA, have leadership involvement in their school and community; and plan to enroll full-time in the upcoming fall term.
This scholarship opportunity is available for high school seniors that attend an OSAA high school in Multnomah, Washington or Clackamas in Oregon not included in the Loprinzi Program. The 30 program high school for the Foundation's Loprinzi Scholarship Program must apply through that application available here.
The Swanson Family scholarship program offers a $10,000 award. The scholarship is worth $5,000 per year for a total commitment of $10,000 per student. All awards are open to any field of study at any 2- or 4-year accredited institution. The award is nonrenewable. Funding can be used for tuition, fees, books or technology.

Selection Process
Applicants must:
Demonstrate financial need to attend college or university. For the 2025-2026 school year, eligible applicants will have a confirmed student aid index (SAI) of less than 35,000. Exceptions to this SAI threshold can be made in the application process for consideration.
We will accept the email confirmation (PDF format) from the FAFSA /ORSAA with the estimated Student Aid Index (SAI) info.
Participate in competitive athletics - high school, club or all-abilities team.
Have a minimum cumulative (unweighted) 3.0 GPA.
Be engaged in civic involvement and demonstrate leadership in school and community activities.
Plan to enroll full-time in the upcoming fall term at a 2- or 4-year accredited institution.
Applicants may not be:
Children or dependents of Multnomah Athletic Foundation staff or board of directors.


The Multnomah Athletic Foundation is grounded in support of youth participation in athletic and educational activities that promote discipline, leadership, and skill development. Founded in 1991, athletic participation is the heart of the foundation.
The Multnomah Athletic Foundation focuses on community outreach to increase access to opportunities. The foundation has provided over $824,000 in community grants supporting youth sports participation and awarded over $2 million in scholarships to student athletes in the Portland metro area.
